sunday scribblings #121 - solace

Water, water, everywhere,

And all the boards did shrink;

Water, water, everywhere,

Nor any drop to drink.

"The Rime of the Ancient Mariner"

Samuel Taylor Coleridge - written 1797-1799

originally "The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere"

in search of consolation

lush emerald meadow animated with a ballet of wild flowers
undulating softly on a gentle zephyr
as serene and chaste as a babe in slumber
tranquilizing

blazing rich crimson sunset as it melts away the day
putting lives into dusk and day’s end
swaddling the world in a negligee of obscurity
awe-inspiring

alongside a sizzling bonfire pleasurably warmed by a nip
protected by grandmother moon and endless dazzling stars
gaze penetrating embers and flame
mesmerizing

deep sapphire sky at midnight saturated with countless stars
cavernous space boundaries far flung
welcoming desires and dreams
enchanting

open arms with the comfort of understanding it all
unending respect everlasting nurture and loyalty
infinite unconditional love

solace

Such strong imagery, woman. Wow. These scenes are so very easy to imagine -- my favorite is the blazing rich crimson sunset. Wow.

You did nail it, as Mr. North puts it. You accompanied the most joyous moments of human living with the most delightful colors and smells and heavenly references, that even one who has sworn off the concept of unconditional love would desire it again.

Hi Danni!!

I know, I'm so late this week!! Thank you for taking the time to read my post nonetheless.
I'm also late in catching up on reading my favorite blogs - yours of course always tops my list!

So this week, as I once again read your beautiful words... these special ones spoke to my heart:
open arms with the comfort of understanding it all
unending respect everlasting nurture and loyalty
infinite unconditional love

THAT my friend, is the purest definition of solace I've seen yet!

Thank you!
