sunday scribblings - #118 -- chance encounter

disconnected

she was sprawled out on a warm flat rock which cropped out over and a few feet above the whitecaps of lake ontario - she mindlessly let herself drown in the solitude --- peace!!! – she let herself drift down and down and around and around, eddying deeper and deeper into the nowhere place where the disconnect is total and protective and the whole of her is safe --- she’s almost there when, WHONK!!! WHONK!!!, she begins to perceive the shrill sound of the interloper --- DAMN AND BLAST!!!!!

“who invited you?”

“guess I pretty much invited myself since you weren’t about to!”

“that should have been your first clue that you weren’t welcome – so just piss off!”

“so what’s going on, anyway? – why all this disconnect crap? – i feel like i have no value these days!”

“right on, ace!!! --- who knew you were an einstein?”

“smarter than you think i am, bitch! if you’d get out of your own way, you might learn a thing or three.”

“not really in the mood to learn diddly-squat – just want to disconnect in peace and quiet without company – especially yours!”

“you really are a jack ass, you know --- disconnect all you like but sooner or later, like it or not, whether you choose to or not, there WILL be that reconnect jazz waiting!”

“well, aren’t you just a little sunbeam???”

“ 'not my job to be a cheerful earful', as the bishop said to the actress – just my god forsaken assignment to help you keep it all together and in perspective – which, i might add, you’re failing at miserably these days!!!”

“doing the best i can with what i’ve got, ya know???”

“liar, liar, pants on fire!”

“okay, okay – what’s your bright idea?”

“just stay in touch – i really hate running all over hell’s half acre all the time to corral my part of you so that we’re us – YOU!!! – so that we can approximate some degree of relatively normal function!!! you really think i like these random meetings??? --- WRONG!!!!! --- anymore i feel like we’re a pair of unfamiliar people having a chance encounter, instead of integrated parts of the whole - and the “whole” mess just gives me exceedingly lousy vibes --- get it???”

What a creative piece of a chance encounter with yourself. Clever!

Danni--A great look at how we try to separate parts of ourselves that aren't the most comfortable bits and yet--they keep find their way back to help us find balance. How frustrating! ;-)

Hello, Danni. Even in solitude, we find our selves! The dialogue snaps with tension and honesty. I found myself wanting them to accept each other. The artwork adds to the piece, a fine bit of whimsy. The intro suggests we're only safe when we disconnect, but the "in-your-face" self contradicts this mercilessly. Thank you for an interesting read.

What a creative piece. I see you don't do much better corraling that inner voice than I do.

i absolutely loved the beginning of the first paragraph and how you used water as the metaphor (given the scene) for what was happening inside you....

and then!

then!

life interrupts!

oh, meditation is quite hard. i have a friend who meditates each day for an hour! an hour! she gave me the advice to start with just ten minutes. that was a long while back, i'm still struggling with the ten minutes. must be the overthought western mind....

this was funny.

Danni,
Great use of vernacular and dialog. This struggle between ID and Ego is fodder for many blog posts I'm thinkin'

Ok - at the risk of looking like a spooky stalker I will make this brief! =) haha!

I really enjoy reading your writing, and I hope you don't mind if I link to your blog.

**If this doesn't go through this time, I will consider it an omen!**

This is one of my favorite uses of imagination in getting down the conversation between self and the thing or things in us that are trying to help us or hurt us with their council. I completely identify with the unwanted intrusion of the irritating, well-meaning thing when you’re trying just to die for a minute, just one minute, and then you’ll be back you promise, but no. Your humor is so much fun here. And what else can you do but apply humor? Between laugh or cry, you might as well choose laugh since the dang well-meaning thing will not let up and anyway part of you appreciates the fact that it cares… LOL!
